As the year of 2014 comes to a close I have been looking back and thinking about how much has happened, how much I have achieved and how much I still want to do. We all have these big things we want to accomplish, some of them will just take hard work and determination. Some will take a little bit of faith and a lot of luck. Whatever you believe in it takes a lot to put your “life” into someone or something else’s hands. It is something I have been working on for a while now.
Now one thing I do not really do is New Years resolutions. Well, I say that but I guess I kind of do it. Each year I start out with a set of goals. I don’t like to say resolutions because they never seem to get done when they are titled that way. A lot of them are not really in the resolution category either. They are big ideas with TONS of working parts, each with their own goals. You know I would never go into this upcoming year without a plan. I love plans, coming up with them is what I do best, I am still working on the executing aspect. So here is a small taste of my plan for 2015.
We want a second baby. See this is one of those bit of faith and lot of luck situations for us. There is prep and planning we do. There are active steps we take to get closer to this goal but I cannot control the outcome and I cannot even begin to tell you how stressful and frustrating that is to me.
I want to grow this blog! There are a bunch of wonderful women who help me in this blog. They write the amazing and wonderful stories you read each and everyday. I would not be here without them, but I am the main responsible party for everything. This means that everything is on me when it comes to growth. Not only that but we are gearing up for some AMAZING additions for the blog. I want to bring in guest moms, dads, grandparents, even Aunts and Uncles. We will be opening a sister site where you can all participate if you want and I REALLY hope you do! It is gonna be amazing.
I want to finish my house. No, we do not start renovations or anything like that. I have this horrible habit of never fully moving into my house. I know that sounds super strange but I never really feel like hanging stuff on walls, finishing rooms to perfection or even fully unpacking (we still have boxes in our garage). Drives my husband nuts! We have lived where we are for 2 1/2 years and we still have bare rooms! I don’t know where that comes from but I really need to see a shrink as to why 😉
I want to become more active in my community. When I was in high school I was super active. I loved belonging to groups and clubs. I was involved in theater and loved volunteering. My mom might disagree but deep down I did, (no 16 year old wants to wake up at 5am to clean streets but I always felt good about it afterward). Now that I hit the big 3-0 this year I have been thinking about getting more involved again. I would love to belong to the local junior league or other philanthropic groups. It can only be a smart move with the business we are trying to start, right?
Get our families life/work balance in order. One thing we do not do well, AT ALL is life balance. My husband and I work 24/7. We are constantly on our computers reading and sending emails, networking, regular working etc. If we are not plugged in we are talking about work and the goals we have, the clients we are trying to help, bouncing ideas off of each other. It is good that we can talk about these things but we then forget to have fun like we use to. When we go on date night, which we never do, forget the no talking about kids rule, we need no talking about work rule. Now that Buggy isn’t just a blob on the floor we need to engage her more, take her more places and give her more experiences. We also need to start dating again. This is so important! It is something we suck at, not the dating part but the making time for dating part. We have grandparents ready and willing, 30 minutes away and guess how many times we have utilized that…about 5.
So these are my big goals for the new year. I will follow up with each and let you know how things progress! If you saw my planner and all my little spreadsheets and notebook sections I bet you would laugh out loud! It is how I stay on top of things and break it down so these big things don’t become overwhelming…wish that actually worked 😉
What are some of your big goals for 2015? Let me know in the comments!
Happy New Year!!!
