We are all busy people. I think it is safe to say that very few of us can sit down and say, “Wow, I am so bored today, I have nothing to do!”. I know that my schedule gets so packed around the holiday season that there is no time to breathe much less sit down. From everything to gift shopping, running errands, making cookies, oh and trying to maintain a normal schedule, life can become overwhelming really quickly.
My husband and I were in the kitchen the other morning and going over our calendar like we tend to do at least twice a month. We share a car at the moment and so we have to sit down and schedule out who has the car on what days. This has actually worked pretty well for us, but we have the added bonus of both working from home. So, we schedule out the car, pay the bills, get our holiday shopping list in order, figure out what nights we have parities, when we are going to leave for the actual trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s for Christmas, etc, etc. The list never ends.
In the last year I have found a couple things I could not get through this holiday season without. They are things that keep me sane. I thought it might be fun to share a couple of them with you. Now, these could really be used anytime of year but they are essential for me this holiday season. Just so you know, yes some of these are affiliate links, yes we get a small percentage but I would NEVER recommend something that I feel is not worth it. These are all my honest opinions.
Mead Organizher Expense Tracker – This binder has kept me sane this entire year. There is a calendar so you can write when bills are due and late. There are binder pockets on each month so that you can add the paper bills you cannot pay online. It helps me so much to have them in one place. Plus I know this sounds weird but it is pretty so I don’t hate it as much as I use to.
This year the entire family has decided to make Amazon Wish Lists. At first we were a little ho-hum on the whole thing as it felt like we were asking for gifts, which is not our style AT ALL. But then we made one for our daughter. It makes sense because Aunts and Uncles far away don’t know what toys she already has or what size she might be wearing. We have Amazon Prime and so we get free shipping on most of our stuff too! If you don’t have it get it! If you know someone who doesn’t have it Give the Gift of Amazon Prime! Either way it has been a wonderful addition this year.
Handbag Purse Organizer Insert – This has been a lifesaver. I have been dying to get back into my purse and not lug around my diaper bag, no matter how cute it is. But the problem is when I am running errands with my daughter, which I almost always do alone, I can never find anything in my purse. Her diaper bag has pockets galore, my purses, not so much. My friend told me to get a purse organizer and it was like a light bulb turned on. It is fantastic. Granted I still need a big purse but it is at least not a diaper bag!
Lastly when I run errands, especially grocery shopping we are on a strict budget. It does not matter what time of year it is. Every time I go grocery shopping I use paper coupons, online coupons, a strict list and my phone calculator. The last three are entirely have to be on my phone therefore a drain on my battery. Now a lot of times my battery starts to die just as I am getting to the check out line. I was getting so frustrated when I would loose my online coupons because of that phone! So I found this…The RazorPlus. It is awesome it is a Rechargeable 3000 mAh battery that delivers an additional 13 hours of talk time for your phone. It is thin and is cute and a life saver really. They are also doing a campaign if you are interested. I really hope that some of these ideas help you get through the holiday rush going on right now. It is so important to not forget that the whole reason for the season is giving and blessings not just stress. These things can keep you sane but only you can truly enjoy the season.
