Ahoy, Ahoy, It’s a Baby Boy!

Ahoy, Ahoy, it's a Boy!!! Our Happy FamilySince my last blog post, I am very happy to announce that I am having a baby BOY! On January 16th, I went in for a full anatomy scan, which is when I learned the sex. I had a feeling from the moment I found out I was pregnant, that I was having a boy. I went with my gut feeling and started buying boy clothes, before confirming the gender. When the sonogram woman confirmed it’s a boy, I immediately started crying, which is typical nowadays! The full anatomy scan was absolutely amazing. My husband and I saw Baby Boy M’s heart, brain, counted 10 fingers and 10 toes, along with other organs. He was sleeping during the sonogram, so he wouldn’t flip over to check his kidneys and make sure there is skin over the spine. My due date is still May 31st, which will be here before we know it!

Ahoy, Ahoy, it's a Boy!!!After we found out what we were having, it was time to tell all of our family and friends. Everyone was very excited and cannot wait to start shopping for the little man. That night, Hubby and I went and bought some outfits for our baby boy. In addition to outfits, we immediately ordered his bedding, as it was on sale, which was ending soon.

A couple of days later, I flew down to Florida to visit family and meet with HR about maternity leave. Flying while pregnant is great, because I get special treatment. I was able to pre-board the flight and people helped me with my luggage and everything. I can get used to this. However, Baby Boy M did not like the plane ride, as he was kicking the entire time.

It was great to see my family, who hasn’t seen me, except for my mom, since I announced I was pregnant. Everyone was rubbing my belly, which is something I have to get used to. I went into the office to meet with HR to find out I get 12 weeks maternity leave at 100% salary! Working from home, I hope to push my maternity leave start date as close as I can to my due date.

My mom had already started buying things for my baby shower, which will be on February 21st. Since the nursery is a nautical theme, she decided to go with the same theme for the shower. It is funny, because we both picked out the same party goods from Party City for the shower. They say great minds think alike.

Ahoy, Ahoy, it's a Boy!!! - Shower invitesOn my final day in Florida, I decided to take my mom and Grammie to Babies R Us to show them the crib and other items we registered for. Much to my surprise, my mom told me that my Florida family will be buying the crib, conversion kit and mattress. Of course, I was crying like a baby in the store. We immediately ordered the crib, which should arrive in a couple of weeks. John’s timeline to get things ready just sped up! He has to build a shed, move guest bedroom furniture to the basement, pull out carpet, install new wood floor and paint the room!

Ahoy, Ahoy, it's a Boy!!! - The CribI have started a diaper stockpile for Baby Boy M. I did research on price per diaper and which stores have the cheapest diapers. Each week, I check the ads, to see who is running sales on diapers. Recently, Target had a great sale if you buy two jumbo packs of Pampers, you get a $15 gift card. I have been buying various sizes and keeping them in the basement. I am all about saving money with this baby!

I look forward to sharing my pregnancy with everyone!

What theme did/will you pick for your sons nursery?

Best,

The Rookie Mom

Thank you Julie! It’s fitting considering I live in the sailing capital of the world, Annapolis and my husband coaches at the Naval Academy!

  3. Congratulations! Baby boys are the best! 🙂 I just had my first in October. We didn’t go with a theme really in his room but I did light gray, aqua, and a couple splashes of yellow. I love the way it turned out. You are so lucky that you get 12 weeks of paid maternity leave! That’s awesome. I got diapers several times at Target when they would run their special. Those gift cards add up! Good luck!

Thanks Melissa! Everyone keeps telling me that boys are the best and easier than girls. I just cannot believe the little guy will be here in 4 months. Time really needs to slow down.

I love reading your blog! Very cute and fun! We also did a nautical theme for Landon. There is so much cute stuff out there for that theme. I can’t wait to see pictures of your little man when he arrives! We are beyond excited for the two (soon to be 3) of you!

    CONGRATS!!!

  6. Congratulations!
We had a Winnie the Pooh theme for all three of our kids 🙂 Though I was tempted to use Dr. Seuss for the last one but I just couldn’t see spending the money needlessly over my little whim. Pooh was fine 🙂
