I cannot believe that I have been a mom for one month. It is the most rewarding, yet stressful job, that I have ever had. However, all of the sleepless nights are worth it; when I look down to see my precious baby boy. It seems like yesterday that I was going into the hospital to get induced, and here we are a month later with a healthy, beautiful boy.
Throughout the first month of motherhood, there has been many laughs, dirty diapers, laundry and how can we forget the sleepless nights. I have been lucky, as Monkey only cries when he needs his diaper change or his hungry, which seems to be every 90 minutes during the day and thankfully 2-3 hours at night.
Monkey’s favorite things are eating, sleeping and pooping on Mommy, which seems to happen on a weekly basis. He doesn’t poop on Daddy, just on Mommy…I guess I have that special touch. He has more laundry than my husband and I combined, as some days he will go through 4 outfits! I didn’t realize how many diapers he would be going through a day; my stockpile is quickly dwindling, as I didn’t think he would go through as many diapers a day, as he is.
At his 1 month appointment, Monkey weighs 9 pounds 5.4 ounces and is 22 inches long. The pediatrician is pleased with how well he is doing, and now he can sleep as long as he wants during the night, which is music to my ears! During the night, we wouldn’t let him sleep for more than 3 ½ hours at a time and at some times would have to wake him up, but not anymore!
He is getting to be such a big boy. I am such a proud mama, especially when he excels at tummy time. We bought the Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies and Lights Deluxe Gym, which plays music and has various toys for Monkey to play with. At first, he was not a fan of tummy time, but now he will lay there for up to 10 minutes lifting and turning his head from side to side.
The greatest thing I’ve heard throughout this first month is how well both I and my husband are doing as parents, especially when you hear it from a professional, like the pediatrician. When my mom visited, she continually told me how proud of me she was, that I was a great mom, a natural.
Motherhood is the greatest job in the world and I cannot wait to see what the future holds with my Monkey!
