Lies, Lies & More Lies

celeste old lies post

All my fellow step moms out there….. Do these lies ever stop? In the last 2 years, my step daughter has lied about the craziest things! Some of it is serious, and some of it is just plain silly.

So, let me set the scene…. It was a cold winter day in December (well probably more like 65 degrees here in Florida), so yeah, it was FREEZING! My ex husband, whom I still have a friendship with, came to drop off some of my belongings that he found at the house we shared for 8 years. I am 8 months pregnant at the time, and my step daughter was home with me due to winter break. My ex husband simply came in, went straight to the garage (I could not lift anything due to being pregnant), dropped my stuff off & left… That is it! Later on when my current husband and I were talking about our day, I of course mentioned that my ex had come by and dropped off some stuff. No big deal, right??? WRONG!!! My step daughter (6 at the time), told my husband that my ex and I went into the bedroom for a while and left her in the living room to watch TV. This could not be farther from the truth! My ex husband and I never had sex when we were married, so why now? EWWW! Luckily my husband has more common sense than to believe such a story, but still! Where does this come from? What happened to the “white lies” that our parents spoke of? I have yet to hear those little lies that are harmless to anyone.

You ready for this??? My step daughter also told my husband and I that her step father was beating her with belts…. Also, not true. That one almost sent my husband and I to jail for murder! Don’t worry moms out there; we did all the proper precautions to be sure, it was, in fact, a LIE! She also takes her clothes off in the middle of the night because she sweats when she sleeps. Well, one morning she told myself and her uncle that my husband (her father) goes into her room at night & takes her clothes off of her. This is also NOT TRUE! Can you imagine if she went to school and said that to her teacher? I will have CPS at my door at some point, I can just see it now.

We have a rule of honesty in our home, and we ALL abide by that rule. We are trying to teach our children that telling the truth is always the best option, and will save them from even more trouble in the future. I will save the rest of her crazy stories for future post, so get your popcorn ready! Stay tuned!
