This week marks my 5th “momaversary”. The day that my son came into my arms after 27 hours of labor. From the time I found out I was pregnant, I knew I’d have a Christmas baby. His due date was 1/1/2010. Everyone told me I was nuts, first babies don’t come early.
The first snow of the year came in on the 24th that year. We lived in Arkansas and it was looking to be my first white christmas. Nothing could make the holiday more interesting than waking up at 3 am with contractions in all their glory. I labored ALL day, traveled 30 minutes up a mountain in ice and snow. My husband made choice the hospital or the dinner plate he gripped on tightly to as I whimpered in between contractions, “Honey, hospital. Now!” Fast forward 27 hours and Caidan Philip Thomsen made his debut on 12/26/2009 weighing in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces at exactly 7:05 am. Practically perfect in each and every way.
Christmas is special on its own for so many reasons. For us it has an extra special meaning. Thank you, my sweet, for bringing me into this special club of women. Thank you for teaching me patience, kindness, and love. Thank you for showing me your Jedi ways, driving me nuts, days full of boy farts, fascinations with all things grotesque, the yin to Cam’s yang, leader and mischevious counterpart of the Thomsen boys. You the sweetest brother to sissy, the holder of Mommy’s heart, Daddy’s battle buddy and 1/3 of the Thomsen trio. We love you beyond words and appreciate the gift God blessed us with!
Happy Birthday Buddy and thank you for choosing me as your Mommy!
