Our Nautical Nursery
With the arrival of Baby M quickly approaching, it was time to complete his nursery. My husband and I decided to go with the nautical theme. We both love everything nautical and it’s perfect, considering we live in the sailing capital of the world, Annapolis!
Our search for the perfect nautical bedding took place before we even knew what we were having. I knew all along that I was having a boy, so we mainly focused on boy nautical nursery ideas. Thank goodness for Pinterest, as I got a lot of inspiration for the nursery.
We found the most perfect bedding from Babies R Us. We decided to buy the bedding set, which included a fitted sheet, crib skirt, comforter, 3 hanging pillows, and 2 valances. I continued my search online to look for matching accessories. I am a bargain hunter and found that Bed Bath and Beyond sold the same collection for a much cheaper price. We decided to purchase the matching curtains, as we would not be using the valances, rug, and lamp shade. Our friends, Kyle and Jenna, were so kind to buy the matching hamper.
I got more inspiration from Pinterest for ideas to store pacifiers. At my baby shower, I received a lot of pacifiers and I decided to go to Homegoods to find a tall glass vase to store the pacifiers. Unfortunately, the vase was too tall, so I decided to add colored glass beads at the bottom, to heightening things. At Target, I found a lamp base that looked nautical, which was perfect for the room!
I only have a two bedroom house, so I had to get creative, when it came to the closet in the nursery. My husband and I use the closet to store our winter coats, but now half of the closet had to be for the baby. Home Depot had a storage cubicle, which fit perfectly in the closet. We purchased red canvas storage cubes, which will hold toys, first aid items, etc. I love that the baby now has his own space in the closet.
The room is only missing a glider, which I hope to receive at my Maryland baby shower, or at least get enough gift cards/money to purchase it. I cannot imagine not having a chair to sit and rock the baby, especially with nighttime feedings.
When you find the perfect nursery theme, check out other stores and websites for inspiration. Mix and match pieces, to add your own personal touch to your baby’s room.
What are some of the best places you find baby deals?

Congratulations on your soon to be little boy! Your nursery came out great and he is going to love it! I often find deals and inspiration at Marshall’s or TJMaxx. We also like to stop by flea markets and estate sales but usually those items turn into a DIY project. Winks and Eyerolls

Sierra, thank you very much. I am still looking for some pieces and recently fell in love with an anchor marquee sign from Target, which I think will be a perfect addition!

My students and I loved your blog and they especially loved the pictures of you and John when you were babies. They also said that you don’t look 30. You look like you are in your early twenties.
Love and miss you very much!
