Who wouldn’t love two baby showers, especially when you are the lucky mom-to-be. April 25th was our Maryland baby shower, which was hosted by my mother in law, Gayle. The shower was a co-ed, so we can have all of our family and friends in attendance. This is such a fun idea because why shouldn’t the men be able to celebrate with us. It was held at the family church’s center, which was a perfect space for hosting parties.
Unfortunately, due to the date, a lot of our friends were unable to attend due to either being out of town or prior commitments. However we had a lot of family and our two close friends in attendance. The baby shower was nautical theme, which is perfect because it is also the theme for the nursery. My mother in law purchased decorations from Oriental Trading Company, while the amazing invitations were made by hand from Gayle and Aunt Mari.
The menu was everything a pregnant mom like me was craving fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and crackers, chips and dip. There was also homemade chicken salad, Gayle’s famous macaroni salad, potato salad, pulled barbeque pork and meatballs. Are you getting hungry yet? Along with all of that delicious food was a table filled with desserts! John’s Aunt Cookie, provided a cake, which was almost as good as Publix. If you know Publix, you know that their cakes are the best!
Baby M is going to be a very sharply dressed little guy, as we received a lot of clothes! We did receive some items from our registries, but I just wish people would have stuck to that or at least gave us gift cards. I guess this is the problem that every mom to be talks about. A baby can only wear so many outfits at a time. We were very thankful for everything that we received.
After the shower, we went to Babies R Us to purchase the last remaining necessary items for Baby M. Now that everything is purchased, we just need to install the car seat. The weekly non stress tests continue to monitor how Baby M is doing. There have been a few issues, which will be discussed in my next post. Thankfully Baby M and I are healthy!
