Thanksgiving Day Menu Switch-outs

One thing that has always bugged me and I swear I had written about this before but for the life of me I cannot find it is my love/hate relationship with Thanksgiving. Well, let me be specific the food. Because of that every year we tend to have some Thanksgiving day switch-outs on our table. Let me explain…

I am not one of those people who love it because of the food. In fact, I cannot stand turkey, potatoes, green beans (gag!) or gravy! My family thinks I am insane.

My favorite parts of this season are my family getting together for a big meal and having uninterrupted time together. I love watching the kids watch the adults cook. Watching them play and get all dressed up.

I also LOVE the shopping that comes right around this time. Some people think that might be terrible, but hey we are who we are…no judgement! Which is why I am loving all my new gift guides coming out shortly! They have been SO MUCH FUN to put together!!!!

I know there is so much hassle involved with travel, taking time off of work and clean up but the pay off is so much more worth it.

We are squarely in two camps in our family when it comes to making a menu each and every year. The traditionalists and the renegades!

The renegades have advocated for steaks or ribs instead of turkey. We make sweet potatoes every year so we do not have to be held back with nasty thick tasteless white potatoes! We have thrown out green beans in favor of candied carrots. Rarely a year goes by without some kind of toss up!

So if you happen to have a love hate relationship with the traditional Thanksgiving day food like I do here is a wonderful list of things you can switch-out that has worked for our family in the past without ruffling too many feathers.

As an added bonus: I am going to link two recipes later this week that people request literally wherever I go. I have made these for, now, hundreds of people and have been asked for these recipes more times than I can count.

While I have held strong I figured why not share with the masses. Here are links on the site to my sweet potato casserole and my famous corn souffle. Enjoy!!

Xoxo,

Kristin
